Keeping your piano in tune is more important than you might think…

Having your piano tuned regularly is an investment that will avoid costly repairs later on, you also get the benefit of a beautiful in tune piano to enjoy

The three most important issues to address are…

Pitch

Pitch is having the piano close to A 440

As the ear is always listening, true ear training needs true pitch, so while a young musician’s concept of pitch is developing, keeping the instrument close to A 440 is extremely important.

Touch

Having a technician regularly service the felts and hammers of a piano keeps the piano action regulated to the correct touch, an action that is too loose, or too tight will fail to train the fingers, hands, and wrists of developing players, and in some cases can lead to injury.

Tone

Tone is about how the piano is voiced to achieve the ultimate tone for the room it is in.

A beautiful tone will draw out the best, and most expressive performance of the player

Pitch and regulation can be tested at the piano showroom you are buying the piano from and you should ask the piano consultant to explain this to you.

You will know if you like the tone of the piano before you purchase it BUT, it will sound different when you put it in your music room.

An experienced piano consultant will know a piano technician that will voice your new piano in your music room.
THese are all things to consider to ensure you are getting a piano that will give you a llifetime of enjoyment
